As a photographer who frequently travels, I'd say that the most interesting part of all my travels is meeting different kinds of people. Of course I appreciate the sights, sounds, foods, and even the peculiar smell of every place I've been to but nothing has ever made each of my travels worth remembering than being warmly welcomed by the local people and meeting other tourists as well. Although I do not remember all of their names, I'm always reminded of something special about each of the people I have encountered every time I look at their photos from my portrait collection. Their beauty never ceases to inspire me; not because I took the pictures myself, but sincerely, I admire each of my subject's characteristic beauty.
My collection of portraits consists mostly of children and elders in various settings. Putting these two contrasting characters together in a composition always fascinates me. The paradox between naivety and wisdom, of wonder and calmness, when put together creates a harmonious beauty that seems to set a bridge that connects the age gap between two people. It also symbolizes a breaking of a wall that separates two souls.
Aside from elders and children, Couples are one of the most sellable compositions among my collections. Believe me, you can find such theme anywhere. From greeting cards, calendars, magazines, and books, couples never cease to inspire people regardless of age. I believe it's our innate desire to stay connected with others that makes such composition appealing to all of us.
