I never thought my hobby will take me to this level. When I started with photography a few years ago, most of my works, aside from portraits of people and pets, are landscapes and seascapes. They weren’t that complicated I would say because most of them concerns mainly of the whole picture. With sceneries, what I try to capture is the atmosphere, for me, it’s all that defines a picture. With portraits, I would say that a combination and balance between atmosphere and the subject are two [if not all] of the main factor that I needed to consider. But taking photography job for fashion taught my eyes to look at a very different perspective.
It took a lot of patience and perseverance on my part to receive my first commendation from my mentor. But still, there is something I feel I needed to discover, something to find out.
If you think that shooting for a fashion is much the same with shooting wedding portraits and the like, you’re wrong. I must say that photo session with somebody’s pet dog is a lot easier! With fashion, you must consider your model and their clothing –details and colors. Nevertheless, there is something beyond those fancy poses and flashing smiles that I must capture; I need to capture something that speaks; perhaps a strong statement that coveys the art, not of photography but of fashion.
