Most of people work for eight hours a day and five days a week. While the others work for ten hours and six days, and some others by choice or out of necessity, spend the entirety of their waking hours for labor. It’s not about how much time of our life is spent working but by doing what we love to do make our labor seem effortless. Life becomes mundane when we are doing the same things over again and again especially if this becomes constant for a long period of time. Regardless of how much we love what we do, like lovers, sooner or later we will become weary, the passion wanes, and the love for what we labor becomes a burden.

It is innate to the human heart to desire for something it lacks, to experience new things and seek for an adventure. This hunger drives the human spirit to seek for a new meaning in life, to see oneself in a different picture and experience life in a different perspective.

To some people, life is about prestige and money, achieving as much as one is capable of. To others, it’s about simplicity, to skip the complexities of life and enjoy simple living. Regardless of what philosophy one believes in, anyone can take photography jobs for a change - lifestyle or leisure. This is a meaningful way of selling your ideas and views of life through pictures.

Attitude counts.

Early on my career as a photographer, I have learned that no matter how beautiful my photographs are to me, I can never expect that all people will always have the same opinion as mine. Regardless of how many people appreciate my works, I will never run out of others who have better ideas. It is also good to be not surprised to find out that most of them are generous with it.

Throughout my career I have learned how very important it is to always remind myself that people see things differently and respond differently even to a common experience. People are souls molded by unknown reasons, capable of absorbing and knowing; and communicating through internal experiences. That makes each of us unique, but not necessarily special.

Although we learn all the rules of life; the do’s and don’ts from school, parents, friends, and mentors, each of us sets their own standards to follow. Nevertheless, over time and very often, we tend to break our own rules in order to come up with something new; to establish new standards that others may follow. It is a kind of adventure beyond the bounds of a monotonous life, to make it new; to be born again and take risks for the sake of unique experience we call art. I’ve done it many times in the photography jobs I’ve done for album covers. Although I learned it the hard way, it’s worth an experience.

If you own a camera, you probably know how to appreciate good pictures. You may have already taken a few good shots by yourself. I never thought my hobby will take me to this level. When I started with photography a few years ago, most of my works, aside from portraits of people and pets, are landscapes and seascapes. They weren’t that complicated I would say because most of them concerns mainly of the whole picture. With sceneries, what I try to capture is the atmosphere, for me, it’s all that defines a picture. With portraits, I would say that a combination and balance between atmosphere and the subject are two [if not all] of the main factor that I needed to consider. But taking photography job for fashion taught my eyes to look at a very different perspective.

It took a lot of patience and perseverance on my part to receive my first commendation from my mentor. But still, there is something I feel I needed to discover, something to find out.

If you think that shooting for a fashion is much the same with shooting wedding portraits and the like, you’re wrong. I must say that photo session with somebody’s pet dog is a lot easier! With fashion, you must consider your model and their clothing –details and colors. Nevertheless, there is something beyond those fancy poses and flashing smiles that I must capture; I need to capture something that speaks; perhaps a strong statement that coveys the art, not of photography but of fashion.

If you are often asked by most of your clients to shoot their pets or farm animals, it is most probable that you would always thank heavens for the invention of digital cameras and photo editing software.

As all photographers know, photo-shooting for pets and other animals is not as easy as how these animals are seen in the pictures. Very often, we see photos where these animals look relaxed, as if the photos were taken so easily. They appear quite deceiving in pictures as if we’re just looking at them naturally or the shot was taken casually. Well, as a photographer, I know that it is not.

It wasn’t long before I got my first photography job for a client who breeds and sells purebred dogs. Looking at some of the photos that my client wants me to come up with, I thought it was an easy job and won’t take more than an hour. But I was wrong -it was like a dog day for me. Only then I realized that unless I sit, stay, crawl, and rollover, I will never get good pictures that will meet the demands my client. I literally did all those things to capture the most ideal pictures that I can get, and I did! But I also got furs all over my pants and shirt.

So, I hope this may serve as a precaution to those who have never had worked with animals yet – Beware of dogs!
