Harnish Visiting Artist and Lecturer in Photography


The Department of Art at Smith College invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible position as Harnish Visiting Artist and Lecturer in Photography, to begin July 2017. The initial term of appointment is for two-years with the possibility of renewal for an additional third year. Applicants should have an active exhibition record and fluency with historical and contemporary art. MFA or MA is required, as is at least one year of post-graduate school teaching experience.

Teaching obligations include four undergraduate courses per year, with at least one introductory-level course in digital media or cross-disciplinary practice. We seek candidates with expertise in a range of analog and digital approaches including traditional black/white photography, darkroom printing, digital photography, and digital printing. Applicants who bring an interdisciplinary perspective to the teaching and practice of photography are encouraged to apply.
