The job:
InStyle.com is looking for a Senior Multimedia Editor to join our creative team of photo editors, designers, and video producers. Reporting to the Director of Photography, this person will work directly with the brand’s Digital Executive Editor and Creative Director to ensure both quality and quantity are meeting digital content creation goals and brand standards. Managing two full-time photo department team members and a freelance staff of nine, this person will oversee the workflow and operations that work in conjunction with the daily digital publishing schedule. In addition, the Senior Multimedia Editor will create in-house visuals which can be used diversely across platforms and, in some cases, other Time Inc. titles. Image-driven ideas, such as photo galleries, GIFS, graphics and in-house videos captured when opportunities arise are a goal.
You will:
- Oversee high volume day-to-day publishing of visual content – images, graphics and videos – of InStyle.com
- Increase audience and engagement by through visual storytelling and compelling and exclusive images.
- Create monthly content reports; set and track department goals for increasing content volume
- Increase number of videos created by and published on InStyle.com
- Evaluate ROI and produce in-house images, GIFS, and videos with both social sharability and long-term value.
- Discover and nurture relationships with new talents.
- Hire and direct freelance creators, photographers and videographers on assignments
- Collaborate with Audience Development team to create visuals for social media platforms that increase engagement and followers
- Maintain and monitor daily workload and team priorities.
- Maintain high quality of key images on homepage and other important promotional items.
- Manage $400,000 annual budget, including agency fees and freelancer costs
- Negotiate rates and contracts with agencies and individual creators
- Oversee documentation and invoice payments for photo usage, rights management and reporting
- Manage two full-time staffers and team of freelancer photo editors to ensure site production is speedy and efficient every day of the year, during both peak and non peak hours.
- Train non-photo team employees on basic photo editing skills and tools
- Develop and maintain digital archive system for in-house created images
- Keep abreast of technology developments to strive for increased efficiencies and speed through tools and workflow
You have:
- 5+ Years of Digital Photo Editing
- 3+ Years of Management Role
- Celebrity/Fashion/Luxury brand experience preferred.
- Experience with MediaGrid valuable
- Hands-on knowledge of Adobe Premier and/or Final Cut Pro
- Strong relationships with working photographers and photo agencies
- Skilled diplomatic and negotiating skills
- Published photographer and/or videographer
- Bachelor’s Degree in Photography, Visual Communications or Photo Journalism
- Highly skilled in PhotoShop, nimble at retouching with speed
- Able to work late nights/weekends as needed, especially during live events such as award shows
- Hands on experience with Drupal or similar CMS
