Job Description - The Communications Photographer at Brown University is a visual storyteller and creative visual strategist who is expert in photography and managing photo archives. The Communications Photographer is responsible for shooting and providing still photographs for use by the Office of University Communications, including news, media relations, social media, marketing, event promotion and engagement communications, and also prepares his/her images for use across all communications platforms — print, Web, electronic, and social media communications. The photographer manages the University’s Digital Asset Management system, guiding offices and departments across campus in contributing to shared digital galleries. This includes ensuring rights and permissions for archived and stored photos, and developing and maintaining streamlined processes for photo sharing and dissemination. The Photographer must maintain all necessary equipment and software to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, and must be expert in the use of the tools of the job. The Photographer also manages a list of preferred freelance photographers for use by offices across campus that require photography resources.
