Associate Art Director (Papyrus)


Papyrus is currently seeking a highly creative individual who loves to ideate, design and develop high-end consumer products. The responsibilities of the Associate Art Director are:

• Assisting manager, while utilizing own artistic ability, training, and creativity, to help create original and high-quality art products for the Company in various assigned product categories.
• Apply creative processes to create unique cutting-edge products and product designs.
• Prepare layouts, sketches, mock-ups and other materials as required to illustrate/develop new product concepts.
• Help manage the development of assigned products through internal and external resources, ensuring they release on time, meet all production requirements and established margin guidelines, as required by manager.
• Assign creative projects to freelance resources and insure that execution of designs meets company standards.
• Communicate clear and accurate written print instructions to Graphic Design and Purchasing Departments to ensure correct printing of the product.
• Manage workload and schedule of artists and photographers.
• Manage the editorial, graphics and production needs of assigned products in conjunction with writer, graphic designers and sourcing team.
• Scout new artist, lettering, and photography resources that are appropriate to the brand.
• Understand standard Papyrus licensing agreement. Monitor parameters as established in agreement. Negotiate licensing terms with artists and licensing agents that fall within pricing structure of company.
• Adhere to cost/retail sales guidelines to ensure both high quality and high volume product sales, and participate in the review/analysis of booking reports, retail sales, carryover and Papyrus Sales feedback.

Administrative Responsibilities:
• Perform specific product searches and line lists as required for Art Directors.
• Organizing and filing creative materials (physical and digital): artist resource lists, sample swatches, purchase art library, etc.
• Help team members fill out route forms, new artist forms, CS Work requests, New Product forms as regulated by manager.
• Follow up with artists/reps for manager as requested.
• Help comp up images or create boards before Creative Meetings or Sales Meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
