Assistant Manager, Styling

Department Summary:

Forever 21 is seeking an innovative, energetic, and passionate team player to add to our dynamic Global Creative team.

Job Purpose:

Under the direction of the Global Creative Director, the Assistant Manager will be involved with the planning and brainstorming of styling concepts and schedules to optimize Forever 21’s online product representation. He/she will be responsible for assisting final photo edits and warrant the workflow of the studio on a weekly basis. The Assistant Manager will apply his/her management skills by mentoring the styling team on how each outfit is best optimized and help them understand style guidelines appropriate to the brand.

Deliverables:

• Lead and oversee on set daily photo shoots of all product, promotions, collections and brands/divisions
• Partner with photographer to ensure each look is best represented according to the style guidelines
• Oversee stylists to give direction to accessorize looks/samples, hair and makeup for daily photo shoots
• Partner with production manager on weekly schedules to provide direction on models/trend partnering.
• Responsible for conducting independent research and suggesting editorial concepts appropriate to the brand
• Partner with buyers on the set of photo shoots and weekly style meetings
• Review all looks prior to presenting to Global Creative Director
• Conduct weekly to bi-weekly meetings to touch base with the styling team and, discussing trends within fashion, apparel, shoes, accessories, models, and photography
• Lead, conduct, and maintain the organization of studios and sample closets with the assistance of styling team
• Train and manage day-to-day schedules and tasks for styling team
• Work with sample coordinators to trend product on daily basis.
• Work with freelance stylists on campaign shoots for corporate styling input

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

• BFA preferred
• Must have 5+ years of experience in fashion styling and an extensive understanding of online product representation
• 2+ years of supervisory/lead experience required
• Excellent fashion sense and understanding of styling different body types, garment types, colors, fit, etc.
• Excellent communication skills required for the purpose of providing direction on set
• Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must be self-sufficient, motivated, and punctual
• Must have demonstrated knowledge of figure apparel styling techniques and strong attention to detail
