If you are often asked by most of your clients to shoot their pets or farm animals, it is most probable that you would always thank heavens for the invention of digital cameras and photo editing software.
As all photographers know, photo-shooting for pets and other animals is not as easy as how these animals are seen in the pictures. Very often, we see photos where these animals look relaxed, as if the photos were taken so easily. They appear quite deceiving in pictures as if we’re just looking at them naturally or the shot was taken casually. Well, as a photographer, I know that it is not.
It wasn’t long before I got my first photography job for a client who breeds and sells purebred dogs. Looking at some of the photos that my client wants me to come up with, I thought it was an easy job and won’t take more than an hour. But I was wrong –it was like a dog day for me. Only then I realized that unless I sit, stay, crawl, and rollover, I will never get good pictures that will meet the demands my client. I literally did all those things to capture the most ideal pictures that I can get, and I did! But I also got furs all over my pants and shirt.
So, I hope this may serve as a precaution to those who have never had worked with animals yet – Beware of dogs!

Can you imagine yourself living in the old centuries when photography wasn’t invented yet? Well, if you live at that time and you happen to be a very good artist, you’d probably make a lot of money by making portraits and commercial ads. Can you imagine how many paintings you would have to mass produce? You’d be painting exact copies of the same picture again and again. That’s a lot of money – and a lot of hard work too! But that is only IF you are an artist!
You capture a moment by taking a photo for the sake of going back to a memory. You take pictures of your grand vacation holiday in Europe perhaps in the landmarks of London, the romantic streets of Paris or an adventure in the African safari of the Kenyan Masai Mara reserve or South Africa’s Kruger National Park. Or you may take shots of your child’s quirky birthday party moments, the funny parlor games, the yummy cake you baked or your family’s solemn wedding rituals, that momentous kiss, the bouquet thrown in the air, the couple’s dance. And these photos make you relive that specific moment in time.
As a photographer who frequently travels, I’d say that the most interesting part of all my travels is meeting different kinds of people. Of course I appreciate the sights, sounds, foods, and even the peculiar smell of every place I’ve been to but nothing has ever made each of my travels worth remembering than being warmly welcomed by the local people and meeting other tourists as well. Although I do not remember all of their names, I’m always reminded of something special about each of the people I have encountered every time I look at their photos from my portrait collection. Their beauty never ceases to inspire me; not because I took the pictures myself, but sincerely, I admire each of my subject’s characteristic beauty.
